Just last week I spent the week in Denver,
Colorado training for my new job. This was my first trip to Denver and
I enjoyed it. The scenery was beautiful and there is a lot to do in
Denver. That is not the reason that I am writing though.

9 years
ago in a suburb of Denver, in Littleton, Colorado a tragedy happened at
Columbine High School. It is something that most people thought they
would never have seen. We all were at home in the afternoon watching
this horror happen. All of us were thinking how terrible, and most of
us thought that it could never happen where we live. Most people used
it as an excuse to skip school the next day. It was a terrible day in
our Nation's history.

While I was in Denver I decided to visit
the Columbine Memorial which sits next to Columbine High School. I can
truly say that it was a life changing experience. When I approached the
high school the day that happened nine years ago began to replay in my
head. I seriously had a flash back. I also got a little teary eyed. I
could not imagine what it must have been like for the students to
return to the school, and the parents that drive by the school each
day. It just shows how quick life can be and how precious each day is
that God gives to us.

What was so surreal to me was the fact
that this town is no different than the town I grew up in, or where I
live now. It is a normal American Town with normal families living
their lives. It happened in another time zone, but it can happen in
your time zone too.

It is hard to believe that it has been nine
years, and I thank God that I had to opportunity to learn something
nine years latter. We have become numb to this violence in our nation
now. Virgina Tech had a tragedy that was just as horrific and violent,
but how quickly the story came and then it was gone. This should not be
a normal thing, this should shock us every time it happens. What are we
doing in our nation to raise violent teens and college students? That
is the question, what are we doing?

I pray that our Nation
never forgets these tragedies. I hope that we remember each year and
that we grow from the experiences that had us all in tears as a Nation.
One thing I do know, is that life is but a vapor. We do not know if we
will breathe another breath. We do not know if we will see another
sunrise. What we do on this planet and in this life counts. Only our
Maker knows for sure what the future holds.

If you know me, you know that I am a Disney fan. Today Disney announced that they will be teaming up with the Pirates of the Caribbean team to do the Lone Ranger. I am not too sure how I feel about the idea of the Lone Ranger being made into a movie. I hope that they will surprise audiences and bring the character up to date. I will post more as I learn more.

Once upon a time in the long, long ago the Eagle and the Turkey were very good friends. Everywhere they went these friends went together. It was not uncommon for people to look up and see the Eagle and the Turkey flying side by side through the air.

One day while flying, the Turkey said to the Eagle: “Let’s drop down and get a bite to eat. My stomach is growling.” “Sounds like a good idea to me,” replied the Eagle. So the two birds glided down to earth, saw several animals eating, and decided to join them. They landed next to the Cow. The Cow was busy eating corn, but noticed that the Eagle and the Turkey were soon sitting on the ground next to her. “Welcome,” said the Cow. “Help yourself to the corn.”

This took the two birds by surprise. They were not accustomed to having other animals share their food quite so readily. “Why are you willing to share your corn with us?” asked the Eagle. “Oh, we have plenty to eat here. Mr. Farmer gives us all we want,” replied the Cow. With that invitation, the Eagle and The Turkey jumped in and ate their fill. When they finished, the Turkey asked more about Mr. Farmer. “Well,” said the Cow, “he grows all our food. We don’t have to work for the food at all.”

“You mean,” said the Turkey, “that Mr. Farmer simply gives you all you want to eat?” “That’s right,” said the Cow. “Not only that, but he gives us a place to live.” The Turkey and the Eagle were shocked! They had never heard of such a thing. They had always had to search for food and work for shelter.

When it came time to leave, the Turkey and the Eagle began to discuss the situation. “Maybe we should just stay here,” said the Turkey. “We can have all the food we want without working. And that barn over there sure beats those nests we have been building. Besides, I’m getting tired of always having to work for a living.”

“I don’t know about all this,” said the Eagle. “It sounds too good to be true. I find it hard to believe that one can get something for nothing. Besides, I kind of like flying high and free through the air. And providing for food and shelter isn’t so bad. In fact, I find it quite challenging.”

Well, the Turkey thought it over and decided to stay where there was free food and shelter. But the Eagle decided that he loved his freedom too much to give it up, and enjoyed the consistent challenge of making his own living. So, after saying good-bye to his old friend the Turkey, the Eagle set sail for the unknown adventure.

Everything went fine for the Turkey. He ate all he wanted. He never worked. He grew fat and lazy. But then one day he heard the farmer’s wife mention that Thanksgiving was coming in the next few days and it would be nice to have roast turkey for dinner. Hearing that, the Turkey decided it was time to check out and rejoin his good friend Mr. Eagle. But when he attempted to fly he found that he had grown too fat and lazy. Instead of being able to fly, he could only flutter. So on Thanksgiving Day the farmer’s family sat down to roast Turkey.

When you give up the challenges of life in pursuit of “security,” you may give up your freedom.

I was trying to think of things to say about McCain, but I think a lot of people are doing it for me. I just cannot believe that McCain is actually the front runner. Really? Why, Why Why? I just cannot wrap my mind around it. I really hope that things change and quick. Read the following quote about McCain. . .

"John McCain is Bob Dole minus the charm, conservatism and youth. Like McCain, pollsters assured us that Dole was the most "electable" Republican. Unlike McCain, Dole didn't lie all the time while claiming to engage in Straight Talk." --Ann Coulter

While I am not a fan of Ann Coulter, she hit the nail on the head.

Now that Fred Thompson has dropped out of the race I have decided that I am going to vote for Ron Paul. That may surprise some of you, but I can explain.

I have never agreed with Ron Paul on the issue of Iraq or fighting extreme Muslim terrorism. However I do agree with Ron Paul on basically every other issue. He seems to be the only candidate that would stop or slow down our country's movement towards Marxism. I am willing to sacrifice and be more vulnerable to attacks than to let our country destroy itself with Marxism.

Every other candidate has ideas that would make for a larger government and more bureaucracy. Ron Paul will stop or at least slow down new laws that will bring about bigger government and socialistic programs. If elected President he would at least force a 4 year debate of government having a limited role.

You see Congress and the Media cannot ignore the President. They can belittle him, but they cannot ignore him. Ron Paul has the closest view of a founding father and I believe he is the only candidate that has actually read The Federalist Papers and The Constitution.

Foreign enemies are not our biggest enemies or threat. It is our slow slide towards Marxism and Socialism that will destroy this great nation. The dependence on other people's money is a crazy addiction that way too many people have in the USA. It is not the role of the government to take care of you from the cradle to the grave.

Do you want individual freedoms? Do you want the government controlling every aspect of you life? The more money that you accept from the government, the more control they will take over your life. Government need a limited role and I am ready to see the control back at the local level.

Ron Paul will be good for the USA. All the other Republican candidates give lip service to limited government and spending, but they all have contrary voting records. Huckabee and McCain have the worst records. Ron Paul will not compromise our freedoms like the others will. Yes, we may get attacked or threatened by an enemy, but I believe Ron Paul would wake up on that issue at that point.

Ron Paul is the best candidate and the smartest candidate. I will not throw my support to someone just because I think that they can win. That compromises every thing that I stand for. The primaries are where I can speak my voice. I will not vote for someone just because they use the platform of being an evangelical. That can be dangerous to vote someone like that. I will explain that in a later post.

I will be voting for Ron Paul on Super Tuesday. I hope that everyone researches the candidates and picks the one that aligns most closely to the values and beliefs. If you go and vote without researching just because you think it is your patriotic duty, stay home. You are doing more harm than good.

This is my first post and I am saying hello to the world of Blogging. I am going to use this blog to share my thoughts and feelings. I will share my view points and sometimes you may not agree with me. That is ok, everyone is unique cause that is the way our Creator made us. I will also share information from time to time about things that I care about that no one else may care about.

You may be wondering why the grey and rain on my blog. . . Well Nashville looks like that from January until about March. Cloudy, rain, cold and sometimes snow. So that's why :-)

This blog in no way reflects the view points or opinions of any organization or company I may belong to. These are my personal thoughts.

Enjoy.
